Novato, CA-February 28, 2007: Catalyst Systems, LLC announced the first recipient of the Barbara Brantley Nursing Education Scholarship: Lynette P. Burke, RN, BS, CNOR. The scholarship fund, administered by the Association of California Nurse Leaders (ACNL), was established by Catalyst to support students enrolled in a Masters program focused on nursing leadership, management, or administration. The intent of this new scholarship is to foster leadership excellence in nursing.

At the 2007 ACNL Annual Conference in February, Catalyst founder and CEO, Holly De Groot, PhD, RN, FAAN and ACNL President, Peggy Diller, MS, RN, presented a check for $2500 to Ms. Burke, who is currently enrolled in the MSN program in nursing education at Mount St. Mary’s College. Ms. Burke, a Clinical Nurse Educator for perioperative services at Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center in Glendale, California, will complete her MSN degree in December 2007.

“I love nursing, and over time have enjoyed sharing my knowledge with younger nurses; always striving to substantiate it with research-based information,” says Burke. “I thank Catalyst Systems for this honor. My goal is to use the information gained from this masters program to develop a perioperative nursing tract with one of the local community colleges.”
